Structure of The Angina Management Programme

Duration

The entire duration of the programme is 12 hours in total spread over three months. There is a choice between Wednesday morning or Thursday afternoon. Once you choose the day, that is fixed for the whole program. You will be assigned to a pair of clinicians who will follow you through the programme.

Initial Meeting

You will be invited to an initial meeting. with 2 of our clinicians. It may last up to 2 hours so we can take all the necessary time to find out in detail how angina is affecting your life. We then share with you important information about what angina is and, more importantly, isn’t and explain why you feel the way you do.

You are encouraged to bring with you a family member or someone who is most often involved during your angina episodes.

At this point, you will be asked if you wish to proceed and, if so,  you will receive the workbook which you will use during the programme. You will also be given access to the members’ area of this website.

Four Weeks of Group Sessions

After the initial meeting, there are four weekly group sessions each lasting two hours. These are held a week  apart. There are between 8 and 10 people in the group at each session. Sessions are usually run by both clinicians. At these meetings you will discover more about angina and learn techniques and tools to help you control your symptoms and feel less frightened and frustrated.  We will help you understand the recommended lifestyle changes proven to be beneficial and help motivate you to make the right choices for YOU.

About one month after the last group session, there will be a two hour one-to-one “follow up session” with your clinicians.

Then once a year, you will have access to an annual follow up with the same clinicans.

All the dates will be agreed with you at the initial meeting.
